Past National President Leo V. Marchetti passed away Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. Leo Marchetti had a 28-year career with the Pittsburgh Police department and was an active member of Fort Pitt Lodge #1. Past President Marchetti served in many positions within his Local and State Lodges. He also served as National President from 1981-1983. During his time as National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, the First Annual National Law Enforcement Officers' Memorial Service was organized by the FOP Auxiliary, endorsed and supported by the National FOP. This event continues to be the centerpiece of Peace Officers' Memorial Day, remembering all officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
